Wade,
I’m thinking about some wanting Americans to pay for having slaves many years ago, and our government not being responsible for the mess Americans are in today.
I think this country is paying now for the sins of slavery, in how racism consumes respect for one another, for the rejection of ‘trust’ and ‘authority’, and for just how much of the way people who were raised up under the prejudices of others have not been able to ‘go forward in a good direction’ . . . . .we are paying, just not in ‘reparations’, but in the failures to realize that treatment of slaves contained within it a CONTEMPT for human dignity that wounded BOTH those who lived under that contempt AND those who lived amidst those who were contemptuous . . . my own family included, as so many of my maternal great aunts and uncles spoke using terms and descriptions that were ‘cringe-worthy’. My father of blessed memory from Canada taught me this:
do not judge your maternal old aunts and uncles, as they grew up being exposed to this language;
but YOU know better. Don’t take this ‘for granted’. The old people too were ‘victims’ of a way of thinking that hurt them as much as it hurt those they view with contempt. The old ones don’t realize that their comments are ‘cringe-worthy’ when it comes to matters of race and ‘color’.
My father taught me to know this. Thank God. I can see the wisdom of it.
Sin wounds all involved: the victims and the perpetrators. We still are ‘paying’ for something that happened within the ‘near’ past. . . . . May God have mercy on us.
Let’s see if the machine lets me print this. (?)
Hope you all are well in this terrible summer heat.

Wade,
I forgot to mention who is responsible for cocaine being in the White House. Wonder if anyone reads the Bible there?
Rex,
Exactly – on BOTH points. Crazy times.
Wade,
Machine won’t let me comment.
Hannity just said our President should be impeached.
Should our President be impeached?
Wade, how are you today?
Wade, just seeing what the machine will let me print. smile
It won’t let me quote Scripture. Frown
