Some Churches are sanctuaries for the ‘wounded’ in our humanity, and it is as a place of healing that the Church cares for the person who is broken. An example is any ministry that opens its doors to people with addiction problems.
Sanctuary means ‘safe place’, where no one will harm you or take advantage of you in your brokenness. Sanctuary takes a person ‘in’ and helps them to recover and sanctuary uses the fruit of the Holy Spirit in the ways it ministers to the wounded person.
‘Bad’? or ‘Wounded’?
We are all sinners. We ALL need Christ’s mercy. He is the Great Physician. His ‘Church’ will be a place of caring and grace where our wounds are bandaged by His Own Hand.
He is the Salvation of us all.
“Sanctuary” – ‘a safe place.’
Exactly. Thanks, Christiane.
Such a sanctuary was your ‘Refuge’ ministry in Enid, Wade. God bless you for that work, forever and ever.
