I must apologize to my wife and family for this post.

My adult children will probably read it. I wish I never had to write it.

I hope you will understand why I wrote this post after you read it.

“Hawk tuah” is a phrase that has exploded on the Internet. It’s a worldwide cultural phenomenon.

I know.

You have no clue what “hawk tuah” means.

Sadly, I must explain “hawk tuah” before I can draw a parable of Jesus Christ’s Person and ministry and the culture of this world.

I’ll be as discreet as I can in revealing the graphic sexual meaning behind “hawk tuah.”

Before I do, just a word to young women and men who laugh about “hawk tuah” and think the young lady who originated the phrase is “cute.”

I get that the nation is talking about “hawk tuah,” but I wish you could be with my wife or me when we help young girls or boys who’ve been victimized by sexual predators.

We help create a climate of sexual abuse when we laugh at phrases like “hawk tuah.”

I’m no prude.

However, I know that normalizing sexual deviancy creates a climate of abuse.

The Meaning of Hawk Tuah

An Internet influencer, Tim and Dee TV, randomly stopped a young lady named Haily Welch on the street and asked her this question:

“What’s one move in the bedroom that makes a man go crazy every time you do it?”

Haily, who is not married, answered:

“Hawk tuah” on his “thang.”

“Hawk” is the sound of gathering spit in the back of the throat, and “tuah” is the sound of spit spewing from the mouth. Miss Welch said, “Hawk tuah – I spit on his thang.”

“Hawk tuah” is an onomatopoeia. That’s a big fancy word. It means “A phrase or word that imitates or suggests the source of the sound it describes.”

Hailey Welch used “hauk tuah” for the first time on the Internet, and her usage (see the video above) has made her “Internet famous.” She is allegedly signing a financial contract to star in an X-rated video.

I write this post from a spirit of compassion, not condemnation.

Temporal pleasures come to an end. Eternal peace lasts forever.

This generation, asleep at the wheel of hedonism, may one day soon awake to the hell of world war. If you’re wasting away your life seeking individual pleasures, and you’re missing the One who alone can give you internal peace.

Don’t waste your life.

Jesus and “Hawk Tuah”

 

The Bible records three times Jesus spit to heal (Mark 7:31-33, Mark 8:22-23, John 9:7).

Jesus “hawk tuah” for the healing of another, never for the pleasure of Himself.

One person who received the “hawk tuah”  was a deaf and mute man. Jesus spit into his hands and placed the spit in the man’s eyes and ears. The man could hear and speak after receiving Jesus’ spit (Mark 7:31-33).

Another person was a blind man in Bethsaida (Mark 8:22-26).  Jesus gave a “hawk tuah” and mixed His spit with mud, put it in the man’s eyes, and made the blind man see.

Jesus also healed another man “blind from childhood” by mixing “hawk tuah” with mud and telling him to “Go wash in the pool of Siloam” (see John 9:1-7).

The SPIT that HEALS

The Jewish Talmud represents the religious traditions and teachings of the Jewish rabbis who lived in the days of Jesus. The Talmud states:

“There is a tradition that the spittle of the firstborn of a father is healing, but that of the firstborn of a mother is not healing.” (Bava Batra 126b)

The religious leaders of Jesus despised Jesus and ridiculed him over their suspicions that Jesus was the illegitimate Son of Mary. They said to Jesus:

“We are not born of fornication. We have one father – God” –  John 8:41.

They insinuated to Jesus that He was a bastard child. So, in response and in fulfillment of the Talmud, Jesus healed the blind man with mud mortared with saliva.The religious leaders watched. Jesus told His enemies by His healing the blind man with His spit.

“I am who I say I am.

I am who I am. I am YHWH.

“I’m the firstborn Son of my Father, whom you claim to know, but you’re sons of the devil.” – John 8:40-45

A Sobering Message

In our day of celebratory hedonism, we must ask ourselves.

Will we spend life seeking the Father’s purpose and bringing healing to hurting people?

Or will we spend our lives seeking hedonistic pleasures and using others to obtain it?

“Hawk tuah.”

The choice is real. Your eternity depends on it.
