President Joe Biden told Democrats last night (October 6, 2022) that the world was on the verge of Armageddon. Not since 1962 and the Cuban Missile Crisis, said Mr. Biden, have we faced such potential massive destruction of our cities and country.

I’m reminded of Isaiah 3 when the LORD spoke to the people of Judah through the prophet Isaiah. The LORD said that destruction and desolation were coming to Jerusalem and their land. War, pandemics, famine, water shortages, violence, and the collapse of the economy and destruction of the cities were all on the near horizon for Judah, said the LORD.

The only difference between Mr. Biden’s speech and the LORD’S proclamation in Isaiah 3 is that the LORD gives the reason for the coming destruction of Judah.

And they (the people of Judah) display their sin like Sodom; they do not even conceal it. This is why the woes are coming to them! They have done it to themselves.” (Isaiah 3:9)
Once a people of a nation  “display your sin like Sodom and do not even conceal it,” the collapse of that nation is brought upon the proud people who sin flagrantly and do not even hide it. That’s a tough message, and people don’t want to hear it. This is why the people of Judah often stoned, imprisoned, beheaded, and rid themselves of the ancient prophets. People don’t like to be reminded that there is a Creator God to whom they are accountable.
